Homes for Sale in Lake Charles

Lake Charles:
Located in the Southwest corner of Louisiana near the Texas state line, Lake Charles is a friendly community of diverse people and industries. The community is a reflection of the state’s rich history when pirates and priests, gamblers and trappers, plantation ladies and voodoo queens helped settle this wildly lush and tropical area. Residents of Lake Charles enjoy the benefits of an unspoiled natural habitat featuring stretch pine and hardwood forests to the North and rich coastal wetlands in the South. Today, the city is a mixture of the exotic Creole and Cajun cultures of yesteryear and a modern love of the arts. A thriving petrochemical industry is the lifeblood of Lake Charles and Calcasieu Parish. The “Imperial Calcasieu Area” -- which includes Lake Charles -- supports a population of more than 181,600 people and is connected to the world by Interstate 10, four U.S. highways and the Port of Lake Charles, the 12th largest deep water port in the country. Renewed vitality in the Lake Charles real estate market means a wide-range of affordable and competitive residential housing from small homes in established neighborhoods to new construction of both single-family homes and condominiums. A select few townhouses and condominiums can be found from between $50,000 to $150,000. Single-family homes with a minimum of 1,500 square feet start at around $60,000 and run up $500,000 and more for expansive homes or estates with waterfront views.
